Beyond the basic task settings, each task has a set of advanced options that control who sees it, when it's visible, and whether it gates the rest of the onboarding process.
These settings live in the Options and Advanced sections of the task creation or edit form in Task Management.
Applicants Only
When enabled, the task only appears for new volunteers who are still going through the onboarding process and haven't been activated yet. Once a volunteer is approved and active, the task is no longer visible to them.
Use this for information you only need to collect from new sign-ups, such as a resume or an introductory questionnaire, where it wouldn't make sense to assign it to existing volunteers.
Hidden Task
When enabled, the task is hidden from volunteers who haven't completed it. They won't see it in their task list at all. Once they've completed the task, it remains visible showing as complete.
Use this when you want to make a task available for a limited time (for example, an expression of interest for an upcoming event) and then hide it afterwards without deleting it. Volunteers who already completed it keep their submission on record.
Blocks Progress
When enabled, all tasks that come after this one in the task list are hidden from the volunteer until this task has been manually approved by a manager. This creates a gated onboarding flow where each step must be approved before the next becomes visible.
Blocks Progress is only available when Manual Review is also turned on for the same task. If you turn off Manual Review, Blocks Progress is automatically disabled.
Manual Review
When enabled, a manager must review and approve the volunteer's submission before the task is marked as complete. Without this, task submissions are accepted immediately.
Volunteers Can Update
When enabled, volunteers can go back and edit their completed task submission. If Manual Review is also on, the manager is notified when a volunteer updates their submission and can approve or revert the change.
