Features & Enhancements:

Volaby Chat:

We're excited to introduce Volaby Chat, a brand new in-app messaging experience for your volunteers and admins. Chat is available as an add-on and, once enabled, gives your team a dedicated space to communicate, coordinate, and share moments from the field without leaving Volaby.

Chat is designed around how volunteer organisations actually work, with channels that can mirror your programs, activities, roles and rosters, and rich message types that let volunteers share context β€” not just text.

  • Channels: Admins can create channels for any topic, add members, and manage membership from one place. Volunteers read and post in the channels they've been added to. Chat in this release is channel-based β€” there's no separate one-to-one messaging feature.

  • Broadcast channels: Any channel can be switched into 'Broadcast' mode so that only admins can post while everyone can still read and react β€” useful for announcements.

  • Auto-Created Channels: Toggle on automatic channels for Programs, Activities or Roles from Admin Console > Communications > Chat. Membership stays in sync as enrolments and team assignments change, and a backfill option creates channels for existing entities retroactively.

  • Roster channels: Admins can spin up a private channel for a specific rostered date from the roster header. Members sync automatically as volunteers are added to or removed from that roster.

  • Rich message types: Managers can share Activities, Rosters, Resources, Locations, Check-Ins, Impact and Reports as rich cards directly in a conversation.

  • Polls: Create interactive polls with real-time vote updates so the whole channel can weigh in on a decision.

  • Photos, files and reactions: Send photos and file attachments, and react to messages with emoji.

Volunteers access Chat from the 'Chat' item in the left-hand navigation once the add-on is enabled for your organisation.

Form Submission Approvals:

Forms can now require admin approval for each submission. When editing a form, toggle on 'Requires Approval' to surface approve and decline controls against every response.

  • Requires Approval toggle: Added to the form builder under the form details card.

  • Approve / Decline controls: Available on both the Table view and the Individual response view in Form Responses, letting admins mark each submission as Approved, Declined, or clear the status.

Multiple Submissions on Public Forms:

Public forms that allow multiple submissions now show a 'Submit another' button on the success screen. Respondents can quickly reset the form and submit additional entries without reloading the page β€” handy for event intake, incident logs, and any form completed repeatedly in a single session.
