Certificates are PDFs volunteers can download to recognise their contribution. Volaby can issue them automatically when a volunteer reaches an achievement level, or admins can issue them by hand.
Certificates are available on the Pro plan.
Creating a certificate template
Navigate to Admin Console > Recognition > Certificates
Click Add Template
Enter a Template name, then choose a Layout and Orientation (Landscape or Portrait)
Design the certificate (see below)
Click Save
Switch between Edit and Preview PDF at any time to see the certificate with sample details.
Built-in layouts
The Classic, Band and Minimal layouts let you set:
Colour: choose from 12 colours
Fonts: a font for headings and one for body text
Show organisation logo
Wording: the Title (default "Certificate of appreciation") and Body. Click a merge tag to insert it: {{VOLUNTEER_NAME}}, {{AWARDED_FOR}}, {{DATE_AWARDED}}, {{ORG_NAME}}, {{ACHIEVEMENT}}, {{LEVEL}} and {{VALUE}}.
Signatures: add up to 2, each with a name, position and uploaded signature image
Using your own design
Choose the Your design layout to use artwork you've made elsewhere.
Click Upload design and choose an A4 PDF, PNG or JPG
Click Add field to place details on the page: Volunteer name, Awarded for, Date awarded, Organisation name, Achievement, Level, Value, Custom text, Signature 1 or Signature 2
Drag each field into position and set its font, size, alignment, colour and weight
Tip: if you type merge tags such as {{VOLUNTEER_NAME}} into a PDF before uploading, Volaby turns them into fields automatically.
Issuing certificates automatically
Choose a template in the Certificate setting of any achievement level. Volaby then issues a certificate whenever a volunteer is awarded that level. See Achievements & Badges.
Issuing a certificate by hand
Open the volunteer's profile and go to the Recognition tab
Click Add in the Certificates section
Choose the Template, and optionally fill in Awarded for
Click Issue
To issue to several volunteers at once, select them in the Volunteer Database, click Recognition and choose Issue Certificate.
Please note: no email is sent when you issue a certificate by hand.
Certificates issued by hand can be removed from the volunteer's profile. Certificates issued with an achievement level can't.
How volunteers get their certificates
Volunteers can download their certificates from the Achievements tab on their home page, or from the link in the Achievement Awarded email. Admins and the volunteer's Program Managers can also download them from the volunteer's profile.
Deleting a template
Deleting a template stops any achievement levels that use it from issuing certificates. Certificates already issued can still be downloaded.
Permissions
Only Admins can create templates and issue certificates.
